Matthieu Ricard is a buddhist monk, photographer and author. He has also been the French interpreter of His Holiness the XIVth Dalai Lama since 1989.

Photograph Description: From the Jango Thang plain, above 13,000 ft, a buddhist monk in meditation in front of the impressive Jomo Lhari glacier (24,037 ft / 7326 m), the highest mountain of Bhutan. It was climbed only once, by Spencer Chapman (UK) and Sherpa Pasang (Nepal) on 21st May 1937, and climbing was prohibited thereafter. May 2007.
