Please join us on Saturday, April 19, 2025 from 10am to 12pm MT USA for the OQ Live Conversation: “Diligence: The Joyful Endeavor of the Buddhist Path” with Elizabeth Mattis Namgyel and Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche.
During this live event with Rinpoche, Elizabeth will engage her root teacher in a conversation about diligence and its relationship to joy. Rinpoche will discuss his new book on this topic, which was published in November 2024 with Shambhala Publications.
This event is offered livestream via Zoom in English and in Portuguese simulcast translation. Recordings will be available after the event for free to event registrants.
Venerable Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche is a lineage holder of the Longchen Nyingthig lineage of Tibetan Buddhism and the Founder and Spiritual Head of Mangala Shri Bhuti.
Rinpoche was raised in a monastic environment and has received extensive training in all aspects of Buddhist doctrine. His principal teacher was Khyabje Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche.

ABOUT DZIGAR KONGTRUL RINPOCHE
Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche is the founder and spiritual head of Mangala Shri Bhuti. He is a lineage-holder in the Longchen Nyingtik and Khen-Kong-Chok-Sum traditions of the Nyingma Lineage.
Unbroken lineages of wisdom traditions are rare in these times. Kongtrul Rinpoche descends from a pure lineage of the Dzogpa Chenpo Longchen Nyingtik tradition of Tibetan Buddhism.
Born into a noble dharma family in Northern India, his father was the third incarnation of the great tertön Chogyur Lingpa, while Rinpoche’s first teacher, his mother, was a great and renowned practitioner, completing thirteen years of retreat before she married. At the age of nine, Rinpoche was recognized as an incarnation of Jamgon Kongtrul Lodro Thaye by Kyabje Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche and the 16th Gyalwang Karmapa.
Kongtrul Rinpoche’s life defines what it means to be a spiritual person in modern times. Whether through his teaching, his passion as an abstract painter, his steadfast dedication to his lineage and students, or in his joy in solitude, he shows what it means to have an unshakable determination to engage in the spiritual path. Weaving his ancient spiritual heritage with the many threads of our modern culture, Rinpoche is known for his uncompromising integrity, deep conviction in altruism, and insistence that all beings, whatever their background, can awaken to their own enlightened nature.

ABOUT ELIZABETH MATTIS NAMGYEL
Elizabeth Mattis Namgyel has studied and practiced the Buddhadharma for over 35 years under the guidance of her root teacher Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche. She is the author of two books, The Power of an Open Question and The Logic of Faith.
She edited two books by Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche, It’s Up to You and Light Comes Through, Elizabeth has taught programs throughout the world and is a teacher in Mangala Shri Bhuti.
After completing a six year retreat, Kongtrul Rinpoche appointed her Retreat Master at the Samten Ling retreat center in Colorado. She holds degrees in Anthropology (BA) and Buddhist Studies (MA).
Elizabeth founded a secular nonprofit organization called The Middle Way Initiative to offer teachings, retreats, and conversations with her and other teachers and guests. With Anam Thubten, she is a founding member and teacher in the Wilderness Dharma Movement.

Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche é o fundador e líder espiritual de Mangala Shri Bhuti. Ele é um portador da linhagem das tradições Longchen Nyingtik e Khen-Kong-Chok-Sum da Linhagem Nyingma.

ELIZABETH MATTIS NAMGYEL
Elizabeth Mattis Namgyel estuda e pratica o Buddhadharma há mais de 35 anos sob a orientação de seu professor-raiz, Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche. É autora de dois livros: “O Poder de uma Pergunta Aberta” e “A Lógica da Fé”.
Editou dois livros de Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche: “It’s Up to You” e “Light Comes Through”. Elizabeth oferece ensinamentos em programas no mundo todo e é professora na Mangala Shri Bhuti.
Depois que Elizabeth concluiu um retiro de seis anos, Kongtrul Rinpoche nomeou-a Mestre de Retiros no Centro de Retiros Samten Ling, no Colorado. Ela é formada em Antropologia (BA) e em Estudos Budistas (MA).
