Dear Friends,
For the past few months I have been wondering how to do engage a project for teenagers and young adults. There is so much happening in the world right now.
Recently, I reconnected to an old friend, Claud Brown, a classical musician, who has also been teaching music at Ship Rock (more description here from Claud), His project Magical Alice inspired me to invite him to speak with me about the importance of meditation, nature and art - especially now!
Magical Alice is an interactive musical website that tells the story of a young teenage girl who transforms her life through playing classical music, falling in love with nature, and discovering a magical doorway that heals her life and can repair the world.
Originally an e-book, the project has evolved to include online chapters, a podcast, a blog, live online concerts and more. Beautiful illustrations by Tatjana Krizmanic accompany the content throughout the site and Claud’s own interpretations of music by Debussy, Satie, Ravel and others are sprinkled throughout the chapters and compiled into downloadable playlists. This project was three years in the making and I am thrilled to be speaking with the creators Claud Brown and Tatjana Krizmanic about their work.
There will be live music performance, guided meditation and a few surprises. Invite young adults and parents alike! Looking forward to seeing there! In the meantime please, subscribe to the project and take a look.
Claud Brown: ”As an elementary music teacher, my students would listen to recordings of songbirds and nature sounds, then imitate them on recorders and other instruments. It was so magical, I was inspired to write "Alice"; a series of adventures about a girl who loves the music of nature and awakens to the interconnectedness of life. And she has this same experience of connection as she plays and shares her favorite French classical piano music. And how magical to connect with Tatjana, who brings Alice to life with her many beautiful watercolor illustrations and web design”! You can visit the project here
